Co-President Haneen, and Chief of Informations Keegan leading the Subnetting workshop.

On October 9th, Netsoc hosted its annual Subnetting Workshop for our first-year Networking and IT Security students.

Every year, subnetting, without fail, turns out to be one of the hardest concepts to understand in first-year networking. Netsoc aims to help students truly grasp these networking concepts and subnetting methods, giving them the confidence and skills they need to prepare for their challenging assessments.

At this workshop, we taught students how to convert IP addresses into binary, find network and broadcast addresses using ANDing and ORing, and even worked through VLSM questions that can otherwise be quite tricky. By breaking down these concepts step by step and working through examples together, we hoped to make subnetting a little less intimidating and a lot easier to understand!

We were so happy to see such a great turnout of enthusiastic students eager to learn, ask questions, and strengthen their networking skills and definitely look forward to hosting this workshop again next year! Until then - Netsoc
