Netsoc x Verkada: TSE Mixer and Recruitment Event

On October 6th, we had the pleasure of hosting an informational and recruitment mixer with our partner company, Verkada.

Our Networking and IT students had the opportunity to hear valuable insights from members of Verkada’s TSE team, including Carly Fong, Liam McIntosh, and Katrina Yung. The discussion covered what the TSE team does on a day-to-day basis, as well as helpful advice for students looking to land internships and begin their careers in IT.

One of the highlights of the event was a walkthrough of a real-world troubleshooting scenario involving a theoretical customer who was unable to connect their Verkada security cameras to the cloud. Through interactive visuals and discussion between the TSE team and attending students, the group was able to identify the issue: authorization between the cameras and the server had failed due to a misconfiguration involving Network Time Protocol (NTP).

Students were also given the opportunity to speak with the TSE team one-on-one, ask questions, and build valuable professional connections. Many students spoke with us afterward and shared how valuable they found the event.

A huge thank you to Verkada for travelling from California to Ontario Tech University to meet with our students. We truly appreciate the time, insight, and experience the team shared with us, and we look forward to another exciting year of collaboration!
