Position: President of Netsoc
Hello everyone, My name is Riley and I am going into my “4th” and final year this upcoming September in the Network and IT Security program. While over the summer I will be away on an intership with Verkada in California I will also be working with my amazing team roughly planning events out. This club means so much to me as it has given me opportunities to grow outside of the regular classes and help provide opportunites and events to others. My initial support to the Netsoc team came from when I was a Deputy Information Officer “Informal exec” leading the Technology tasks for our largest event TACOPS that year; and last year I was was the Chief Information Officer with a fantastic team who delivered on our custom discord bot for user verification. My goal as the president this year will be to utilize all the skills of my team and ideas hopefully of all of you. Before returning back to school to finish my degree I worked in IT for over a decade so with all your help I feel we can push this club to new levels of growth to continue to support new students in future years.

Hi everyone! My name is Fatima Khan, and I’m currently in my third year studying Networking and IT Security. I'm also serving as the Associate Operations Officer for Netsoc. I decided to join Netsoc primarily because I wanted to connect with other students who are on the same journey as me. Being part of Netsoc has been a great opportunity to meet individuals, share experiences, and learn from each other. One of my favourite experiences that I’ve had with Netsoc was Tacops. I gained invaluable insights into the real-world challenges that networking professionals face daily. During Tacops, I not only learned about various networking concepts but also experienced firsthand how demanding and intricate the field can be. More importantly, I discovered effective strategies and solutions for tackling these challenges. The hands-on experience taught me the importance of troubleshooting skills, problem-solving under pressure, and the necessity of staying calm and when issues arise. I would say that Tacops definitely boosted my confidence and deepened my appreciation for this program and I can’t wait for next year!

I'm Marco Caggianiello, currently I am entering my 4th year at Ontario Tech University in addition to being the Associate Communications Officer here at Netsoc. Netsoc has been a cornerstone of my university experience, providing an incredible community where I've been able to increase my technical skills and network with industry professionals and students alike. When I started at OTU, I had a goal to get involved with the Networking and IT Security student community. Netsoc was the perfect place for this, and I first got involved by becoming a deputy executive last year. Now, I've joined Netsoc's Communications Team! Netsoc has given me some great opportunities not only during my time as an executive but also as a student, I hope this year we can keep providing incredible support to students in the upcoming year!

I'm Jackson Barker. I'm one of the Associate Information Officers for Netsoc 24/25. In the fall, I'll be starting my 2nd year in the bachelor networking and IT security program at Ontario Tech U. I joined Netsoc as an outlet to share and ask for help with my home server. I decided to apply to be a Netsoc executive because of all of the smart and friendly people I met. To me, Netsoc is a community of like-minded individuals to ask questions and learn from with regard to any topic related to information technology. Netsoc has been hugely helpful to me in learning about more technical details of internet infrastructure. I am proud to now be able to contribute back my own experience to help improve the Netsoc technology stack in the coming acedemic year.
